How are we governed?

We are an elder led, deacon served, and congregationally ruled church. God gives His church pastors to guard, equip, direct, shepherd, teach, pray for, and provide examples for His church. But the church is ultimately shepherded by Jesus, who guides and indwells every believer by His Holy Spirit to make the trajectory-shaping decisions of a local church (Acts 6:1-4; Acts 13:1-4).

Elders & Deacons

There are two primary leadership positions for the church: elders and deacons (Phil. 1:1; 1 Tim. 3:1-13). The responsibility for shepherding and overseeing the church belongs to the elders. They are to devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the word. The Scriptures use elder/pastor/overseer interchangeably. The Scriptures hold up a plurality in this position. The office of elder is restricted to men.

The deacons are given to serve the church, often by meeting needs and helping carry burdens. Both men and women may serve as deacons. (Rom. 16:1, 1 Tim. 3:10)
